CAUSING A FLAP

Why did the chicken…

Causing a Flap was a research project led by a network of UK universities, across fields such as Archaeology, Anthropology and Genetics. We worked together to create a documentary exploring the role of chickens in societies around the world. We travelled to Ethiopia, Gran Canaria, India, and around the UK to unpick the social significance of chickens as a provider of foodstuffs, economic independence, their use in medicine, competition, and cock-fighting, from their native origins in South East Asia to their global distribution today.
