Our Team

Poppy Crawshaw

Director

Poppy is a Newcastle-based theatre maker who aims to take art out of venues and into the places that people live and learn. Through her participatory arts practice, she collaborates with others to celebrate and tell stories that are often unheard.

Poppy co-founded Woven Nest Theatre, a workshop-led company who celebrate ageing through art. They run a program of activity for unpaid carers, older people, and children.
As well as directing Woven Nest, Poppy is Curious Monkey’s associate director, delivering their creative program ‘Troupe’ for care experienced young people. This youth-led program tackles important social issues through creative storytelling.

Danielle Giddins

Director

Danielle is a filmmaker and creative producer based in the North East. Having started her career in broadcast television, she became drawn to more issue based, socially engaged storytelling, and so for the last 10 years has worked on collaborative projects with a range of communities and demographics. Most recently for Amber Film and Photography Collective/Side Gallery, Tyneside Cinema, Doc Society, and New Writing North.

She has had one foot in traditional filmmaking with creative leadership roles on work for BBC Three, BBC Arts and BFI, and has worked on her own creative commissions for universities, local authorities and other third sector organisations.

Katja Roberts
